BLIND!!--week 103-- 101 Weeks in Phoenix Mission--
16 weeks in Buckeye
Dear friends and family,
Well it's officially August. Time is flying by so fast. I am enjoying
my time here in Buckeye! Things are going well and I am enjoying my
time with my two great companions. I couldn't have asked for a better
final transfer.
Temple trip
This week we were able to go to the temple with my favorite family in
this area, the Marr's. Sister Marr hates waking up early so when we
told her we had to leave at 6am she almost collapsed! But she loves us
so she went anyway. She even had a good time! It was such a special
experience to feel the Spirit of the temple with such great people.
They remind me so much of my parents. Their personalities are almost
identical. I went to the temple with a few questions and I feel I'm
one step closer to having them answered. This week we have another
temple trip, and another next week. I'm looking forward to those for
sure!
1942 Nash
We had dinner with an older couple and after dinner they took us to
their garage and showed us their 1942 Nash! He told us some history
about it that kinda went in one ear and out the other, but it was
super interesting. Apparently they had just made the 1942 model the
month before Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, so there weren't very many
made. He says that they only know of 10 1942 Nash cars still around.
And boy, his is restored and beautiful! Dad, this is for you! I'll
include a picture or two.
Flight plans
I got my tangible flight plans in the mail!! That means things are
getting real. For those who want to come see me in the airport, I will
be flying in to the Joplin a Regional Airport at 9:58pm on August
16th. I apologize for the super late time slot, but there's not much I
can do about that! I would love to see anyone there who can make it.
Chess
Elder Gunnell is like the best chess player in Minnesota, so he loves
to challenge members whenever he can. So far he hasn't lost, but we
have a game set up with Brother Emmett this week who is supposedly one
of the best around. We'll see how it goes. Haha!
Snake
A member in our ward has a banana king snake and I love it! We got to
come by and watch it eat four mice!! It was like the coolest thing
ever! I filmed the whole thing LOL.
Blindness
We had such a great week for lessons. Our most exciting one was
probably win our new family we met two weeks ago. They're still in a
tough situation, but they are solid as solid gets. We brought our ward
mission leader, Brother Woodruff, to the lesson. There's only one
thing—Brother Woodruff is blind. He gave such a powerful testimony of
the truthfulness of the Restoration by relating it to eyesight. He has
to live by faith every day because he can't see anything. The same way
we can't SEE the gospel is true, we can feel it. That's how he gets
about in life. The kids loved listening to him speak—so did I! I'm so
grateful Brother a Woodruff is such s great example!!
Well, friends, that's about all I have for this week! Thank you all
for your support and prayers. Have a great week! See you in two weeks!
:)
Much love,
